Stage 17 preview: Santander → Fuente Dé, 187 km (Hilly/Summit finish)

September 4 update: The Vuelta resumes on Wednesday with Stage 17 and another summit finish. The category 2 finish to Fuente Dé is a long one at 17 km but averages 3.9% which is modest by Vuelta standards and it will be hard for the GC contenders to get separation.

Nonetheless, Alberto Contador needs to decide whether there is an opportunity here or whether he'll rest all his hopes on the last mountain stage, stage 20 on Saturday. — Steve
