14 augustus update: Zoals al een paar jaar het geval is begint de Vuelta a Espana ook dit jaar met een ploegentijdrit in de avonduren. Het parcours in Pamplona is met 16,2 km dit keer iets langer dan in voorgaande jaren. Zoals gewoonlijk is het een fikse uitdaging om een ploegentijdrit te rijden in een oude stad. Bovendien zitten er plenty rotondes in deze rit.

Pamplona is misschien wel het bekendst vanwege het Festival van San Fermín met het fameuze  Stierenrennen.
