Het algemeen klassement staat na de strijd om één van de kleinste tijdsverschillen in de geschiedenis van de Ronde van Spanje zo goed als vast. Juan Jose Cobo (Geox-TMC) zal de winnaar van 2011 zijn. Er volgt nog slechts een massasprint in Madrid na een overwegend ceremoniële rit. De strijd om de Groene Puntentrui is nog open, Bauke Mollema (Rabobank) en Joaquím Rodríguez (Katusha) hebben beide 115 punten. -- Kees Slings
