Our day to enjoy cyclocross racing in Golden Gate Park began with a detour, as we set out to drive from Berkeley to San Francisco. As we approached Emeryville on our way to the Bay Bridge, a flashing electronic sign informed us that it would take 84 minutes to drive 10 miles. So we turned around and took the roundabout route, across the Richmond and Golden Gate Bridges, and saved at least 45 minutes. This is our first Cyclocross event coverage... as an experiment. Since we arrived late, the album below includes a few photos from the elite women's race but has lots of movies from the men's race at the end of the day. Unlike the road races we've covered, the shadows were a big problem, adding complexity to shooting action movies and photos with amateur equipment. I'm sure a lot of the racers were disappointed with the beautiful sunny weather. -- Steve, November 21, 2005
Right: Chris Horner in action during his second Cyclocross race. Chris placed 11th proving that one way to beat Chris Horner is to get him off his bike!
