Brent VAN MOER (Lotto - Soudal) - Ian GARRISON (Deceuninck - Quick Step) - Patrick GAMPER (Bora - Hansgrohe) and Cyril GAUTIER (B&B Hotels - P/B KTM).

Brent VAN MOER (BEL/LOTTO SOUDAL) attacked his breakmates with 15 km to go: “From the team car, I was told to go all out from the final climb and when I had 50 seconds advantage atop the final climb, I knew that – with most of the final kilometres downhill – the stage victory was possible. But only when I got into the final three kilometres, I was sure of it. As a team, I think we have shown that with racing aggressively, you can go really far. We also form a really solid team. I remain really careful what defending the leader’s jersey concerns. We have a really tough Dauphiné in front of us and I’ll take it day by day whether I can defend any of my jerseys. But I will definitely fight for them and then we’ll see where that takes me”

Brent VAN MOER (BEL/LOTTO SOUDAL) solos to his first professional win back in Issoire: “I almost can’t believe it. My first professional victory and immediately in this way and with the leader’s jersey on top of it…”, begins an emotional Brent Van Moer. “After what happened at the Ronde van Limburg, where I was about to fight for my first pro victory but got sent into the wrong way at the end, I was really disappointed but I immediately shifted focus towards the Dauphiné. I was really eager to show that I am able to finish off a race. The fact that I can already do this at the Dauphiné, amongst this strong field of riders, is just fantastic. What a difference compared to last year, when I was also part of the early breakaway but had to abandon the race due to a crash. It is really special to be now wearing the yellow jersey.”

2 Sonny COLBRELLI (ITA/BAHRAIN VICTORIOUS) + 25s, 3 Clément VENTURINI (FRA/AG2R CITROËN TEAM), 4 Jasper STUYVEN (BEL/TREK-SEGAFREDO), 5 Kaden GROVES (AUS/TEAM BIKEEXCHANGE), 6 Nils POLITT (GER/BORA-HANSGROHE)

Brent VAN MOER (BEL/LOTTO SOUDAL): “Last week I was really disappointed – I did a great solo but had some bad luck. Today I wanted to show I can finish it off, and I’m really happy to do it here among all the big names.”

Stage 1 break with Loïc VLIEGEN (Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert) and Omer GOLDSTEIN (Israel - Start-up Nation)

After two successful breaks on the first two days, Loïc VLIEGEN (Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert) and Omer GOLDSTEIN (Israel - Start-up Nation) didn't get much of a gap

Race leader, Lukas PÖSTLBERGER (Bora - Hansgrohe): "Today I was really tired from the effort yesterday. I went on the roller before the stage and actually thought it’s ok, but after a while I felt really empty in the race. But my team did a great job to control the race and they brought me well protected to the last kilometer. I wanted to lead out the sprint then but was too tired and in the end happy to don’t lose any seconds on that uphill stretch. Tomorrow will be kind of a mission impossible, but we’ll see how the legs are and for sure try our best again."

After two seconds on Stages 1 and 2, Sonny COLBRELLI (ITA/BAHRAIN VICTORIOUS) wins Stage 3 3:56:36 ahead of 2 Alex ARANBURU (ESP/ASTANA-PREMIER TECH), 3 Brandon MCNULTY (USA/UAE TEAM EMIRATES), 4 Jasper STUYVEN (BEL/TREK-SEGAFREDO), 5 Wilco KELDERMAN (NED/BORA-HANSGROHE), 6 Clément VENTURINI (FRA/AG2R CITROËN TEAM), 7 Carlos BARBERO (ESP/TEAM QHUBEKA ASSOS), 8 Clément RUSSO (FRA/TEAM ARKÉA-SAMSIC), 9 Tim WELLENS (BEL/LOTTO SOUDAL), 10 Kasper ASGREEN (DEN/DECEUNINCK-QUICK STEP)

29th Alexander Kristoff (Norway / UAE - Team Emirates)

Your Stage 3 winner, Sonny COLBRELLI (ITA/BAHRAIN VICTORIOUS): "After two 2nd places, I really wanted to take a beautiful win. I can thank my team, they worked perfectly. The final kilometer was very hard. Michał Kwiatkowski pulled really hard until the last 300 metres. Then Alex Aranburu went very strong, I followed his wheel and it worked well for me."

Lukas PÖSTLBERGER (Bora - Hansgrohe) had his race lead cut to just 2s

1st Alexey LUTSENKO (KAZ/ASTANA-PREMIER TECH) 21:36 winning by 8s

2nd Ion IZAGIRRE (ESP/ASTANA-PREMIER TECH) + 8s

3rd Kasper ASGREEN (DEN/DECEUNINCK-QUICK STEP) + 9s

4th Wilco KELDERMAN (NED/BORA-HANSGROHE) + 12s

5th Ilan VAN WILDER (BEL/TEAM DSM) + 13s

6th Richie PORTE (AUS/INEOS GRENADIERS) + 15s. "I don't really know who it was for, to be honest. It was such a hard course to get into a rhythm, but I guess my form is pretty good."

7th Jonas VINGEGAARD (DEN/JUMBO-VISMA) + 17s

8th Brandon MCNULTY (USA/UAE TEAM EMIRATES) + 21s

9th Lukas PÖSTLBERGER (AUT/BORA-HANSGROHE) + 23s

Pushing it right to the finish saved 9th Lukas PÖSTLBERGER (AUT/BORA-HANSGROHE) race lead which is now 1s. "This was the TT of my life. Looks like yellow really gives you wings. When I saw the course this morning, I was happy because it had technical parts and uphill sections to push but no real flat part that favored the TT specialists. I took a lot of risk in the downhills to save power for the uphill parts. I also still could push a big gear in the last crosswind part, I think that was key. But in the end, I am really surprised to still keep the jersey. We’ll have to watch out tomorrow about the bonus seconds, but there is a chance to defend yellow one more day."

10th Geraint THOMAS (GBR/INEOS GRENADIERS) + 23s

31st Tony MARTIN (GER/JUMBO-VISMA) + 59s

93rd Chris FROOME (Israël - Start-up Nation) + 2:12

Alexey LUTSENKO (Astana - Premier Tech) post-race: “I did the maximum today and I’m really happy to win the stage. It wasn’t a big surprise for me because I did a lot of work on my time trial bike at altitude camp in Teide just before the race and I had a lot of motivation from Dmitry Fofonov in the car behind. We did many, many hours of training on the TT bike in the camp and it has paid off,” ... “This kind of course, 16 kilometres of up and down is perfect for me. In the first six kilometres I went a bit slower and saved some energy and then in the last six to seven kilometres I went full, full gas. In the final, I just did my absolute maximum, 200 percent. To be only one second off the yellow jersey is a bit disappointing but the Dauphiné isn’t finished and I will fight to get the yellow jersey. Maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after in the mountains.”

Your Stage 3 winner, Alexey LUTSENKO (Astana - Premier Tech)

Race leader (9th today) Lukas Postlberger (AUT - Bora - Hansgrohe) by just 1s: "I am really surprised to still keep the jersey. We’ll have to watch out tomorrow about the bonus seconds, but there is a chance to defend yellow one more day."

13 years after his last stage win at this race 41 year old Alejandro VALVERDE (ESP/MOVISTAR TEAM) wins again ahead of 2 Tao GEOGHEGAN HART (GBR/INEOS GRENADIERS), 3 Patrick KONRAD (AUT/BORA-HANSGROHE), 4 Wilco KELDERMAN (NED/BORA-HANSGROHE), 5 Enric MAS (ESP/MOVISTAR TEAM), 6 Sepp KUSS (USA/JUMBO-VISMA), 7 Alexey LUTSENKO (KAZ/ASTANA-PREMIER TECH), 8 Jack HAIG (AUS/BAHRAIN VICTORIOUS), 9 Ben HERMANS (BEL/ISRAEL START-UP NATION), 10 Steven KRUIJSWIJK (NED/JUMBO-VISMA), 11 Geraint THOMAS (GBR/INEOS GRENADIERS), 12 Nairo QUINTANA (COL/TEAM ARKÉA-SAMSIC), 13 Richie PORTE (AUS/INEOS GRENADIERS), 14 David GAUDU (FRA/GROUPAMA-FDJ), 15 Ion IZAGIRRE (ESP/ASTANA-PREMIER TECH)

Alejandro VALVERDE (ESP/MOVISTAR TEAM): “I’m so, so happy. Before anything, I have to mention, and congratulate and thank my team-mates, for all the work they’ve done for the past few days, ever since the start of the race and even more so today. Close to the Line, López told me on the radio: ‘Should I push, so no one can attack?’ I told him to go ahead – and I have to thank him especially for that, because he was incredible. INEOS put on a big pace before the sprint, but as soon as Geraint Thomas stopped pushing, I knew I couldn’t hesitate: I had to go full-gas to cover that move from Tao. I tried to keep him close, and as soon as I saw the finishing banner, I well on full steam. A special victory? Every single one I get is special, even more so now – being up there with the best, contesting these victory, is even more beautiful after everything I’ve done as a pro. The GC? Well, we’ve got Miguel Ángel and Enric, who have shown to be really strong so far, and there’s two big mountain stages ahead where any of them can aim at the top spots.”

Dropping to 2nd overall + 17s, Race leader Alexey LUTSENKO (KAZ/ASTANA-PREMIER TECH) was 10th + 1:00 followed by yesterday's winner, 11th Alejandro VALVERDE (ESP/MOVISTAR TEAM) + 1:04

Mark PADUN (UKR/BAHRAIN VICTORIOUS) post-race: “It’s incredible and an incredible moment for me. First of all, it’s my first WorldTour victory and on one of the hardest stages of Dauphine when everyone is going so fast.

Also, in the last six stages, I felt so bad on the bike during the race, and I thought it would be impossible for me to finish the race, and today I arrived first. When I crossed the finish line, I had the feeling like I need to wake up now, but it’s not a dream.

I thought I might arrive with the top 20 guys, and when Richie Porte attacked, I tried to close the gap as I had our leader Jack Haig in the group. I saw we had a gap with four riders, and I thought, why not, maybe they will show me on TV for my mother, and I attacked.

Then it was just me and Seb Kuss, and when I saw him drop, I just decided to go full gas to the finish and hope no one would catch me. Thanks to my team that believed in me.”

Richie PORTE (AUS/INEOS GRENADIERS) post-race: "When Movistar set that pace then they didn’t really have many guys left, Geraint said ‘off you go’, that was the plan this morning, that I attack, so we had the numbers and Tao was with with G. It’s great to have numbers, great to be back in this team and I’m enjoying riding my bike.

"The Joux Plane is a climb to have nightmares about, it’s one of the most solid climbs in world cycling. Whatever happens tomorrow we’ll give it our all and I’m motivated to try and bring this jersey home.

"I’ve been here before on the penultimate stage and having the yellow jersey, but I’m under no illusions, it’s not going to be easy tomorrow. I’m over the moon to be in the yellow jersey, but the Dauphine is always won on the last day. It's going to be a big battle tomorrow and I'd love to finish it off."
