Actually, things worked out a bit better for me because in the tailwind, there was a traffic island in the middle and I found myself on the left, so I entered the crosswind nearly last. I managed to make it back step by step and I'd like to thank the team for their work. In one moment, Peter helped me and really saved me and in the finale, Felix did a fantastic job. It was the first really hard race for me and coming here I didn't know what my form was. My legs felt a bit painful in the finale but I could see the other struggling even more, so that gave me confidence. I'm very happy to bring home this victory for BORA-hansgrohe. I had a good start to the season, I missed a stage in Algarve by a few centimetres, so it's nice to win here. Being the overall leader is a great feeling and a responsibility but we'll certainly do our best, we have a very good team here." – Maximilian Schachmann | 5th Cees BOL (NED/SUNWEB + 15s, 6th Nils POLITT (GER/ISRAEL START - UP NATION) and 7th Giacomo NIZZOLO (ITA/NTT PRO CYCLING) | Your Stage 1 winner and first race leader, Maximilian SCHACHMANN (GER/BORA - HANSGROHE) |

At the final, I managed to find my good place and position for the final sprint to go full gas. As everybody suffered in such hard conditions, I was waiting, as always to try and use such conditions like today and grab my chance. The character of the race was like the classics race, and I’m really happy before the upcoming classics ahead to take a victory. I am super happy with the performance of the whole team. I did a good job with Dylan at the front, and in the end, everything went really good, and I took my chance for the win” | Injured Sam Bennett was fined for shouldering before he later crashed in the final sprint — cyclingnews

I did my best and my legs felt good, so I’m really happy with the outcome. I don’t like really straight TTs; I also want some hills, technical parts and tempo shifts so it was a super good parcours for me.” | Your Stage 4 ITT winner, Søren KRAGH ANDERSEN (DEN/SUNWEB) | Maximilian SCHACHMANN (GER/BORA - HANSGROHE) extended his overall lead to 58s. "It was a bit of a day of mixed feelings – the satisfaction of extending my overall lead and the slight disappointment in missing the stage win. At the top, I could see I was leading. I wanted to improve on my performance in Algarve two weeks ago, where I kept a steady pace throughout the stage, while here I went all-in on the climbs. I think Kragh was excellent today – really fast – and I was very close, so I'm satisfied. I extended my overall lead but I will fight until the end, as much as I can in order to defend the yellow jersey. I have already checked the climbs, I know what lies ahead, it will be hard but I think there is a chance." |

I took my chance in a breakaway, and my legs were really good. I collaborated with the guys in the breakaway really well and in the last 30-40 km to go, I increased the speed. I gave my all and attacked even more, but in the end, I missed a stage win by 30 meters. I am really disappointed. I will take this as an experience, and hopefully, a win will come soon” | Niccolò BONIFAZIO (ITA/TOTAL DIRECT ENERGIE) wins Stage 5 in 5:18:02 ahead of 2nd Ivan GARCIA CORTINA (ESP/BAHRAIN - MCLAREN), 3rd Peter SAGAN (SVK/BORA - HANSGROHE) and 4th Nacer BOUHANNI (FRA/ARKEA - SAMSIC) | Your Stage 5 winner, Niccolò BONIFAZIO (ITA/TOTAL DIRECT ENERGIE) | Maximilian Schachmann (GER - Bora - Hansgrohe) continues to lead photo Nico Vereecken/PN/BettiniPhoto©2020 |

| Remnants of the early break before Romain BARDET (FRA/AG2R LA MONDIALE) finished 39th + 8 minutes and decided to go home before the final stage | Tiesj BENOOT (BEL/SUNWEB) goes clear with 13 km to go | Tiesj BENOOT (BEL/SUNWEB) wins Stage 6 in Apt | 1-2 for Sunweb with 2nd Michael MATTHEWS (AUS/SUNWEB) + 22s and 3rd Sergio Andres HIGUITA GARCIA (COL/EF PRO CYCLING) | Your Stage 6 winner, Tiesj BENOOT (BEL/SUNWEB). “It was a really hard day, full gas from the start,” beamed a jubilant Benoot at the finish. “Quickstep immediately started to pull from the start of the stage. I knew it was a good situation for me; I had really good legs. I like the days where you have to push all day and today was a day like this. We came into the final in a really good situation. I went in the counter attack with Nibali and I felt I still had something left so I went full gas to Søren. After he did his pull, it was only ten kilometres to the finish. I’m really happy to get a win for the team today. We did really good preparation with some really nice time gaps earlier in the year. We’ve put a lot of effort into the team with the classics guys here. Unfortunately, we cannot ride the classics this year but I’m sure in the future we can achieve some nice things there.” | Race leader, Maximilian Schachmann (GER - Bora - Hansgrohe), before the summit finish finale on Saturday. "I crashed with about 800 metres to go but I'm well. The race was full on and the guys were going full gas down. I had a small gap and came back but I think I was a bit too fast. I made a mistake but managed to get back on my bike. I still have the yellow jersey and tomorrow will certainly be a tough stage but I felt good in the last long climb. Today we rode a bit defensively but there is no doubt tomorrow will be all out." - Maximilian Schachmann |
