Biggest win for Ben O'CONNOR (AUS/NTT PRO CYCLING) needless to sayshare this photo
Ben O'CONNOR (AUS/NTT PRO CYCLING): "Yesterday I was pretty disappointed but I think that I’ve said before that I was very happy with how I raced. Today I think I was the strongest in the race,at the front, and I managed to pull it off."share this photo
Ben O'CONNOR (AUS/NTT PRO CYCLING): “In the road book, I only looked at the first two climbs because that was where the breakaway was meant to go. Tactically, it was a pretty simple stage. I just had to follow and make it to the front. My celebration gesture on the finishing line was something like [Australian cricketer] Shane Warne used to do. I prefer to get a victory out of an attack rather than stay in the peloton. If I become a consistent rider, I’ll try and race for overall classifications but for now the attacking way of racing is pretty fun.”share this photo

First Grand Tour victory for Ben O'Connor who is only the second Australian to win an Alpine stage of the Giro d'Italia. The only other Australian to do so was one of his current coaches, Michael Rogers, who took glory atop the Zoncolan in 2014.share this photo
