Regarding recently setting the Women’s World Hour Record at Colorado Springs Velodrome: “Why I wanted to set the hour record was to learn because I wanted to learn how to suffer more. And I just rode today’s stage [1; South Lake Tahoe], and it’s absolutely spectacular and a postcard for California. And that finish is hard, so peddling and suffering.” share this photo
Regarding having world tour and an Olympic year, and the Amgen Tour of California on U.S. soil: “It’s fantastic! I live in San Francisco, so this is like having a home race. As an American, I usually have to travel to Europe, so it’s thrilling to see my European competitors flying over for this race.” “[I’m] thankful for all the sponsors for putting on the race, and it’s even more exciting to have it parallel with the men’s race. Alexis Ryan (United States/Canyon/SRAM Racing). Regarding being new to Canyon/SRAM Racing: “It’s been an incredible opportunity to be part of this team. I’m the only American. Good atmosphere and team cohesion. The year has gone pretty smoothly, it’s been a really positive experience.”

Regarding riding in Tahoe in last year’s Amgen Tour of California: “I have some knowledge of the courses here, but I’m gaining knowledge and experience from the women who won last year.”
