Less than a minute back and the peloton hits La Redoute. Vincenzo Nibali put in the an attack later but it was rather feeble and he finished outside the top 10

Alejandro Valverde on the other hand, played the perfect race

Philippe Gilbert was hindered by his crash injuries at Wednesdays Flèche-Wallone

6 km to go: Roman Kreuziger (Tinkoff - Saxo) and Giampaolo Caruso (Katusha) attack on Côte de Saint-Nicolas, the last noted climb

The bunch sprint in Ans led out by Joaquin Rodriguez (Katusha) after the sharp bend with 200m to go

A fine Ardennes week for the 22 year old Frenchman, Julian Alaphilippe (Etixx - Quick Step) was 2nd today after a 2nd at Flèche Wallone and 7th at Amstel Gold

Despite a team that worked for him and animated most of the race, Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) managed 13th + 24s finishing with Pieter Weening and Giampaolo Caruso
