20. avgust: Četvrta etapa startuje iz Barakalda u Baskiji i nastavlja ka jugu, sve do cilja na usponu, koji sledi nakon 160 km trke, u ski-centru Estacion de Valdezkaraj (Estación de Valdezcaray). Ovo je četvrti put kako se Estasion de Valdezkaraj koristi na Vuelti, pri čemu je to poslednji put bilo 1991. godine.
