Stage 6 preview: Ville de St-Georges, 125 km (hilly)
June 17 update: The traditional final stage of this fine race is in Saint Georges, base camp for all the stages. But, this hilly circuit race is no ceremonial final stage. Last year, Svein Tuft got away on the final descent and won by 18s. This year, he and Team Canada teammate Christian Meir will have to do something special if they are going to move up from the their 3rd and 4th GC positons, 0:43 and 1:06 back of Rory Sutherland, respectively. Young Hugo Houle, second + 19s, is probably just hoping to keep that spot. — SteveSee the race summary table (right) for the stage profile, map and timetable.

2012 Tour de Beauce Race Preview

Mancebo and Tuft prior to the start of Stage 1 (photo @tourdebeauce)
June 11 update:

June 9 update: This year's Tour de Beauce is almost identical to previous editions. It features a mix of hilly road and circuit races, a summit finish and an individual time trial. Francisco Mancebo (Competitive Cyclist) will defend his 2011 title against past winners Svein Tuft (Team Canada) and Ben Day (UnitedHealthcare).
Other riders to watch include Sebastian Salas (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies), who won the climber’s jersey at the Tour of California, Ryan Roth (SpiderTech p/b C10), Craig Lewis (Champion System) and Rob Britton (H&R Block).
The Canadian national team, led by Tuft, will start a series of notable riders including his Orica-GreenEdge teammate Christian Meier and David Veilleux, who is on borrow from Europcar. Francois Parisien (SpiderTech p/b C10) will look to improve on his strong performance from last year. UnitedHealthcare will also send Marc De Maar (winner of the Mont-Mégantic summit finish in 2010) and this year's Tour of the Gila winner Rory Sutherland. Team-Type 1 will be bringing Alexander Serebryakov and Aldo Ilesic who were 1-2 in Philadelphia last weekend.
The international (2.2) stage race is one of the longest-standing events in Canadian history being held every race since 1986. Previous winners include Jonathan Vaughters, Levi Leipheimer and Michael Rogers. — Steve and Canadian Cycling Magazine
