La 3° tappa ritorna a ovest e finisce a Rapallo sulla riviera italiana giusto un pò a nord delle Cinque Terre. Nel 1999, il tormentato francese Richard Virenque (Team Polti) vinse la difficile 13° tappa dell’82° Giro d’Italia (articolo e foto) che finiva a Rapallo dopo quattro duri passi di montagna. Il percorso della  3° tappa di quest’anno non presenta le grandi salite dell’Appennino del nord ma ci sono due salite, una di cat. 3, l’altra di cat. 4 nella seconda metà della tappa, nelle quali si vedrà qualche azione.

 Partendo dalle pianure di Reggio Emilia, il gruppo sale il graduale Passo del Bocco (alt. 950m) che ha alcune parti ripide nella fase finale che divideranno (temporaneamente?) il gruppo con soli 40 Km. rimanenti, in questa tappa di 173 Km. Totali.  Negli ultimi 10 Km. c’ è anche una salita di 4° categoria posizionata strategicamente per lanciare un attacco vincente e c’ è anche una piccola salita a 4 Km. dal traguardo. L’ultimo Km. è leggermente in discesa. Questa tappa probabilmente vedrà uno sprint di gruppo di piccole dimensioni. – Stefano Amico
