Stage 1 preview: Lugano, 7.6 km (TT)

June 11 update: They call this stage 1, but it is really a prologue on the gorgeous shores of Lake Lugano. Lugano is at the border between Switzerland and Italy and the lake itself is similar to nearby glacial lakes Como and Maggiore.

This is a popular type of time trial these days with bump in the middle on the outskirts of town and some technical sections in a downtown area (Lugano). We have a Tour de France strength field, but home country hero, Fabian Cancellara, is the heavy favorite. — Steve
