This, the hardest stage, was for the stallions in the peloton

The main break held it together for most of the day until the last climb when two riders from the peloton caught and passed them

Jeff Louder (BMC) was in the break for most of the day. He would finish 5th (+ 0:23)

Marc De Maar (UHC) wins the 9 km climb to the top of Mont Mégantic after flying by Canadian Derrick St-John (Garneau Club Chaussures) in the final 200m. St-John, who attacked at the based, finished second (+0:08). That's Valeriy Kobzarenko of Team Type 1, from the main break, cresting for 3rd (+0:16). De Maar now leads the race by 7s.

Andrew Pinfold (UHC) in Sprinters jersey finished well of the pace in 73rd

Nathan O'Neil (Bahati Foundation) took second but was one minute back of the winning time

Local boy Charles Dionne (Fly V) placed 28th (+ 02:13)

Rafael Serrano Fernandez (Heralkio- Murcia) in the KOM Jersey placed 69th (+ 4:22)

Jeff Lauder (BMC) was 20th (+ 1:55)

Caleb Fairly (USA) Felt-Holowesko Partners did well for 5th (+ 1:18)

Ex Tour de France top 10 rider, Francisco Mancebo move up in GC (Heralkio-Murcia) with his 9th place ride (+ 1:27)

This rider didn't bring his TT bike. Opted instead for clip ons.

Will Routley (Team Canada) was 18th (+ 1:52)

Chris Baldwin (UHC) would have been disappointed with 22nd place (+ 1:58)

Francois Parisien of Spidertech p/b Planet Energy was the best Canadian finisher in 4th (+ 1:14)

David Boily (Spidertech) in the Red Jersey placed 17th (+1:17)

Ben Day (Fly V) beat his nearest competitor by over a minute. His winning time for the 19.3 km course was 25:02 (46.26 km/h)

Teammate Darren Wolfe (FlyV) took 2nd (+ 1:01)

Marc De Maar (UHC) was in the yellow jersey, Now he's 4th overall after his 21st place ITT finish (+ 1:57)

1st big climb on the 12.5 km circuit in Quebec City

This course is a trial run for the upcoming UCI race this September, Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec

11 laps for a total of 128 km

The early three man break included Felt-Holowesko's Danny Summerhill

Now a five man break

Marc de Maar made his winning move with 800 meters to go for his second road stage win this week.

Stage 6:  Saint-Georges 135.5km  Full Results and Report


Fly V in the rain. It looks like a crit in Saint-Georges but it was a circuit race (11 laps x 12.35 km)

Jamie Sparling (Team Canada) and Caleb Fairly (Holowesko Partners) in the break. Sparling later put in an unsuccessful attack on a descent with two laps to go.

The main break gained a maximum advantage of three minutes on the field

Jackson Stewart was in the break and went on to win the bunch sprint for second

FlyV at front for most of the day

UHC traded with FlyV for a while at the front

Heraklio-Murcia's Hector Gonzalez Baeza attacked the main break on the final lap and to the surprise of his breakmates, soloed to line with a 16s margin of victory

BMC's Jackson Stewart won the bunch sprint for second ahead of Team Canada's Will Routley and the rest of the break. The peloton crossed just three seconds later.

Bookend wins for Heraklio-Murcia. They opened and closed the 25th Tour de Beauce with stage wins. They also won the team competition.

Your stage 6 podium: 2nd Jackson Stewart, 1st Hector Gonzalez Baeza and 3rd Will Routley

Marc de Maar of Unitedhealthcare (right), who won two stages and wore Yellow before the time-trial stage, found his way back onto the GC podium on the last day. He joined the race winner, Ben Day, and his FlyV teammate Darren Wolfe.
