Stage 9 preview: Frosinone → Cava de' Tirreni, 188 km (Flat)


The peloton visited the Amalfi Coast last year as well passing through Salerno on the way to the finish on Monte Vesuvio. Photos from last year's stage 19

May 17 update: Stage 9 continues our movement south. We'll start from Frosinone and head southwest past Naples down to the Amalfi Coast. The route skirts/avoids any climbing on the way, but the finish does feature a 2-3% uphill grade over the last 4 km into Cava de' Tirreni, near Salerno before leveling out for the last km. A sprint finish is almost guaranteed with some of the smaller sprinters likely to be in the mix. There is a 30% chance of rain although Graham Watson says it's sunny at the start today. Update: But, the weather is indeed bad again.
